Against the Current – Liverpool O2 Academy, March 10th 2017

Against the Current return to the UK for Part II of the In Our Bones tour for a string of intimate gigs in cities they’ve not visited before! They were supported by Hunger, a beautifully emotional alternative rock band from Vienna, Austria who hypnotised the crowd with their haunting vocals and captivating melodies. When Against the Current hit the stage, the crowd was ready to go. The crowd was only made up of a few hundred, but filled the sold out venue with an intense and intimate atmosphere that harkened back to the bands first UK tour, Infinity, back in 2014. It’s clear that, although the band is taking the world by storm and certainly have the following to be playing bigger venues, they are making sure that no fan misses out on getting to see them up close and personal!

The set was, as always, electric and full of energy. Chrissy almost bounces around the stage during more upbeat songs such as Blood Like Gasoline, making it exceptionally challenging to keep up with her to get a photo! Yet she’s capable of slowing the pace right down when she needs to, able to bring an entire room to tears with Roses before lifting the crowd back up with the inspirational messages of In Our Bones and Brighter. Always an emotional rollercoaster, this band is definitely on well on their way to amazing things!
